Privacy

Privacy, without surprises.

Right Words is an app for parents. It has no account and no Right Words server. Nothing about your family leaves your phone.

Updated

The short version

  • No account, no sign-in, and no Right Words server.
  • Your child’s name (if you add one) and age, and everything you do in the app, stay on your phone.
  • No ads, no analytics or crash-reporting SDK, no tracking, and no advertising ID.
  • Purchases go through Apple and RevenueCat, a subscription service, to unlock your subscription. RevenueCat never receives anything about your child.
  • Settings → Delete all data on this phone erases what you entered.

Who we are

Right Words is made by Eric Charbonnier in Montréal, Québec, Canada. Questions about this policy go to therightwordsapp@gmail.com.

Right Words is for parents and caregivers. It is not made for children to use on their own and does not create child accounts.

What stays on your phone

The app stores these in its private storage on your device:

  • your child’s name or nickname (optional) and their age (0 to 12);
  • the hard moments you pick (up to three), and how you tend to react when it gets loud, if you choose to say;
  • your house words (the lines on your poster) and whether the poster shows your child’s name;
  • your lights: the days the words helped, one light per day, and what earned it (a moment you marked “It helped,” a repair you made, or a practice you finished). The app keeps about the last 400 days;
  • your reminder choices (the Sunday note and Daily words);
  • a small record of your subscription status (plan and expiry date), so the app can open without a connection.

We never ask for a birth date, photo, school, or location. Right Words cannot see this information and does not receive a copy. When you type what you said in Repair, the app matches it to its built-in words on your phone. The text is not saved or sent anywhere.

What goes through Apple and RevenueCat: purchases

Apple sells and bills the Right Words subscription. We use RevenueCat, a subscription service, to show the plans, confirm a purchase, unlock the subscription, and restore it. RevenueCat works for us as a processor. It receives:

  • an anonymous app user ID it creates for your install (not your name, email, or Apple Account). The app sets no ID of its own;
  • your purchase history: which plan, when, and whether it is active;
  • basic technical data such as device type, operating system, and when the app last connected, plus the IP address any internet request carries.

RevenueCat does not receive your child’s name or age, your hard moments, your lights, your house words, or anything you type. We turned off its automatic device-identifier collection and its diagnostics, and we send it no custom attributes.

Your purchase records are used for two things: to unlock and restore your subscription, and for subscription reporting in RevenueCat’s dashboard (totals and charts, such as how many people subscribe, and the purchase history of each anonymous ID). They are not linked to your identity, not used to track you across apps or websites, and no advertising ID is involved. Right Words never sees your payment card; Apple handles payment under its own privacy policy. RevenueCat’s practices are in its privacy policy.

What we do not do

  • No advertising, analytics, or crash-reporting SDK in the app. RevenueCat, above, is the only outside service.
  • No tracking, and no advertising identifier. The app’s privacy manifest declares no tracking.
  • No access to your contacts, photos, camera, microphone, or location.
  • No AI service receives what you type. The words in the app are written ahead of time.
  • No sale of data, and no data about your child sent to anyone.

Diagnostics

Developer builds print a few anonymous event names, such as “paywall viewed,” to a debug console on the developer’s computer. Released versions of the app record and send nothing. If that ever changes, we will update this page first.

If you have chosen to share iPhone analytics with app developers, Apple may pass us crash reports. They come from Apple, not from the app.

Reminders

The Sunday note and Daily words are optional. They are scheduled on your phone by iOS. Right Words does not use remote push notifications, has no push token, and sends you nothing from a server. A reminder shows a line of the app’s words, never your child’s name. iOS asks for permission only when you turn a reminder on, and you can switch it off in the app or in iOS Settings.

Sending your house words

You can make an image of your house words and send it with the iOS share sheet. The image is built on your phone. It shows your child’s name only if you turn onShow name, and a story image never shows it. Right Words does not upload it. Once you send it through Messages, social media, or another app, that app’s rules apply and the people who receive it can see it.

The app does not offer to share Repair cards or the lines about your child’s side.

Children

Right Words is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Details you enter about your child stay on your device and are never sent to us.

Your choices and deleting data

Settings → Delete all data on this phone erases your child’s name and age, your answers, your lights, your house words, and your reminders from the app. It keeps only the small subscription status record, so the app still knows you subscribed. Deleting the app removes everything it stored on your phone. Your iCloud or computer backups of the phone may still hold a copy under Apple’s rules.

Deleting data does not cancel a subscription: it stays with your Apple Account. Cancel in iOS Settings (see the Terms).

The only record held outside your phone is the anonymous subscription record at RevenueCat. To ask about it or ask for it to be deleted, email us. Because it is anonymous, we may ask for details from your Apple receipt, such as the order ID, to find it. We hold no name or family information, so there is usually nothing else to access, correct, or erase.

Security

Right Words relies on the iOS app sandbox and your device protections. It adds no encryption of its own on top. Use a passcode and keep iOS up to date.

This website

This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics. Its fonts are served from this site, so opening it does not contact Google. Like any website, our host keeps standard server logs, such as IP addresses, for security.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page before the app does anything materially different, such as accounts, cloud sync, remote analytics, or sending text to an AI service, and we will ask for your consent where Apple or the law requires it. The effective date above shows the current version.
